Tizanidine (Zanaflex ®) is a prescribed medicine that is used for muscle spasms.
How do I take this medicine?
Take with a glass of water or other liquid. You can take this medicine with or without food.
Continue taking this medicine, even if your pain is under control. Medicines like tizanidine should be taken every day, on a schedule. Do not stop taking this medicine, unless your care team tells you to do so.
What are the side effects?
Side effects that are very common include low blood pressure, feeling drowsy, dizzy, dry mouth, and weakness. Side effects that are less common include constipation, nausea, slow heart rate, and blurry vision. Tizanidine can sometimes be habit-forming or addictive.
While side effects can be tough, there are ways to manage them. Talk to your care team if any of these side effects are interfering with your life.
